Do you know what the Salmo Public Library can do for you, and what services it offers? No fear, a list is here!
- Your membership at the Salmo Valley Public Library (SVPL) is FREE. Bring in a piece of ID and proof that you are a resident of Salmo or Area G. That’s all it takes. Not from the area? Ask at the front desk, and we’ll be able to “check you out”!
- Your membership allows for Inter-Library Loans. If you can’t find it at our library, we will endeavour to obtain it for you from any of the other libraries throughout BC.
- You can take out most books for three weeks. New books to the SVPL, also known as “Express Books”, magazines, and movies can be taken out for one week at a time.
- A semi-mobile library service is provided to the Salmo Seniors Estates and Ymir on a bi-weekly basis.
- In addition to the usual selection of adult fiction and non-fiction, young adult/junior fiction and non-fiction, graphic novels for all, children’s books, early reader books, board books, and adult and children’s magazines, there is a large Local History section at the SVPL, and a large selection of local authors scattered throughout.
- DVDs, music CDs, and audiobooks are also available to check out.
- The SVPL has a large digital collection available through their website. All you need is your library card, and you have access to our digital audiobooks, e-books, e-magazines, and independent movies.
- On the website, you have access to placing interlibrary loans and holds on books, as well as being able to renew items you already have out.
- SVPL has 2 Daisy Readers.
- When possible, SVPL offers computer tutorials for those who are having problems. Give us a call.
- Book a computer during business hours-there are four adult, two youth, and one child computer available. SVLP also has two iPads available.
- Free 24/7 WIFI
- Take advantage of one of the many additional activities provided by the SVPL
- Summer Reading Club Friends of the Library Teas; Soup and Bun
- On-going sales of gently used books, magazines, and movies.
- Tax filing for simple tax returns
